More than a Store: A Window into Two Maine Country Stores

Updated: Aug 31, 2023

Come learn more about the people who shopped, bartered, exchanged, shipped and received items, and gossiped at Lemuel Cotton's Store (Hiram) and Sutton Edgecomb's store (Kezar Falls) during the mid and late1800s. These hardy folks weathered the Gold Rush, Civil War, and multiple pandemics and financial recessions over the course of their lives.

What do their stories mean to you? Come find out at our exhibit opening event, which will take place on Saturday, September 16th from 2-4 p.m. at the Great Ossipee Museum, located at 120 Historical Ridge, Hiram, Maine 04041, just 30 minutes from North Conway, New Hampshire. Admission is free (donations welcome), and light refreshments will be available.
