Boston Post Cane and Pin Presented to Bruce Nason
Bruce Nason was presented with the Boston Post Cane at a surprise ceremony with family present at his house on April 15. The Cane is held by the oldest resident of Hiram and was presented by Marylou Stacey on behalf of the Town of Hiram. The tradition of presenting the cane was begun in 1909 by the newspaper the Boston Post; after the Post ceased, and many canes were lost, a pin was created. For safekeeping the Cane will be kept in the vault at the Hiram Town Office. Sally Williams, Hiram Historian, presented Bruce with a Boston Post Cane Pin, which is his to keep! Bruce was born on December 22, 1929. Bruce is a Trustee of Hiram Historical Society.
